Stop Moving in Fear

I have a few friends who have moved into new homes over the last few months. With any move, there's the dread of packing and unpacking. Some items must be unpacked immediately because they need to be used. Other items are released from storage over time or may never see the light of day again. I admittedly have a few boxes in the basement that have not been unpacked since our last move nearly 4 years ago.
This made me think of less-than-enjoyable experiences that we pack away, never to be revisited. Those experiences manifest into fears which we'd rather not expose. It can be easy to forget about them or to create workarounds near the edges of our fears for the sake of managing our daily existence. Case in point: When I was very young, I remember having an adverse reaction to eating fish. It was so severe that it made my tongue swell and impacted my breathing. But imagine my fear as a kid! I packed up that traumatic experience as a child, accepted my lot in life and steered clear of fish straight into adulthood. Fast forward to present-day, I'm able to eat salmon and all types of sushi with no issues. I don't have the same reaction I had as a kid.
Why should you unpack your fears?:
1. You may have outgrown your fears. When you're so close to a bad experience and it's still fresh, it can be difficult to see how it could've played out any other way. Time and maturity may help you view your insecurities differently. Now is the time to face them head on!
2. You may enjoy that which you once feared. If you've been afraid of heights, you may discover that you love to fly and you desire to travel the world. If you've been fearful of speaking in front of others, you may realize your passion for public speaking. Facing your fears gives you the ability to explore an entirely new part of life.
3. You can find support from those who struggle with the same fears. Fear lives in darkness and thrives on lies. Your tightly packed insecurities will have you believe that you're the only one in the struggle. Once exposed, now you and your community can encourage each other to conquer your fears.
Question: What's the latest fear that you've unpacked and conquered?
