tour de force: an impressive performance or achievement that has been accomplished or managed with great skill
Chicago area weather has been beautiful lately. Sun-drenched days and warm breezes have been a welcome change from the cold winter. Despite the gorgeous weather, there is a downside: it's construction season. This means traffic delays and detours.
When I leave my house in the morning, I'm on a mission to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. Traffic delays and alternate routes are a nuisance to my mission! Frustration begins to set in when I see a parade of brake lights or orange detour signs along my route. Their presence on my path almost feels like I've been targeted to come to a screeching halt. Why me?! Why now?! I have some place to be!
Detours and delays in our professional and personal lives can be just as frustrating. But opportunities can exist in the midst of setbacks. When the unexpected threatens your thoughtful plans, consider the upside:
- You can flex your creative muscles to come up with a work-around.
- You can re-evaluate your entire plan.
- You can spend time helping someone.
- You can invest in yourself and learn something new.
- You can develop patience and just wait...until the right time to execute your original plan.
Question: What has been the upside to detours or delays in your life?
Detour de Force
Despite some delays And setbacks, be sure your course Is a tour de force!
