Push Up, Push Through, Push Off

Do you remember playing in the park as a kid? With summertime approaching, I'll get plenty of playground time with my son and daughter. I always liked the swings as a kid. My daughter is no different.

When she settles into the swing, she asks me for a push. Since she gives frequent reminders that she's almost 6 years old, I think she's old enough to swing on her own. In response to her request, I tell her what my dad told me at her age: "Pump your legs!" I proceed to give her a lesson in the physics of swinging. She needs to learn to put in the work to swing higher!

Do you rely on others to push you to higher heights? Or do you also push yourself to set goals and achieve them? We all need a little push from time to time. An encouraging word from a friend or tough love from a mentor could be the necessary boost to get to the next level. But what happens when no one is around to keep pushing you? What's your motivation to "pump your legs"?

To stay motivated:

- Keep the goal in focus. Write it. Speak it. Visualize it.

- Reflect on the last goal you achieved. Past achievements are a good foundation for future success.

- Start small. Don't despise small beginnings. Just get started and keep pumping!

In life and with playground swings, there is nothing wrong with needing a little push. Just don't forget to put in the work to keep the momentum going after the push!

Question: P___ Until Something Happens. Plan. Prepare. Pray. Persevere. Play... what's the "P" in your P.U.S.H.?
