Take the Limits... ON!

As I was driving to work, I took notice of the speed limit sign alongside the road. It said 'Speed Limit 25 miles.' Whether or not I was abiding by the rules of the road at the time is another issue!... but the sign made me think about limitations in our lives -- both bad and good.

Bad Limits What limits have you placed on yourself because of fear?

Fear of failure. Fear of judgment. Fear of (fill in the blank).

On top of that, some people will attempt to put their limitations on you because if they can't do it, you surely can't do it! Whether self-imposed or transferred, limits based on fear will leave you stagnant and unfulfilled in life.

Your growth and development live on the other side of the limits in your life.

Good Limits Can limitations be good? Actually, yes!

Sometimes, we don't realize the benefits of limits in our lives until we have surpassed them and have a moment to reflect. Some limits, like the speed limit, are intended to keep you and others safe. (Note to self when my foot is heavy on the gas pedal!)

You may look at some boundaries in your life with disdain. Why? Because you feel you are ready to bust right past them! You're grown, mature, and educated! You're ready for the next level....NOW!

But... are you REALLY ready?

Have you been responsible within your current limits to justify more freedom? Have you counted the costs of pushing past that boundary before your time?

Next level access comes with next level responsibility. There is nothing wrong with having vision beyond your limits. Just consider if you've taken full advantage of where you are before you put the pedal to the metal!

Question: What are your thoughts on limits - good and bad?
