Eating Elephants

There is a riddle which says: "How does a mouse eat an elephant? One bite at a time."
Think about some of the challenging, elephant-size goals you've set for yourself. The space between where you are and where you want to be in life can feel immense at times. There are so many things to do and so many steps (or bites) to take before you reach your goal. I've felt like this many times in my life.
When I was a freshman, I couldn't wait to be a graduating senior (high school and college).
When I got engaged, I couldn't wait to be married (let's skip the wedding details).
When we started potty training the kids, I COULDN'T WAIT for that season of parenthood to be over!
Days can feel like an eternity when we are in the midst of the journey. But this time is also rich with experiences, joys, and lessons that make the end result well worth the wait.
Every year around this time, my social media feed is filled with so many happy grads and their proud parents:) I'm sure there are plenty of good times AND war stories behind those beaming smiles. In the end, they didn't give up and they accomplished what they set out to do. They looked the elephant in the eye and ate it!
As we progress toward our goals, every step has meaning, every bite has significance. You may feel like what you're doing on a daily basis doesn't matter -- but IT DOES! Whether you're working on your dissertation, potty training your toddler, seeking funding for your business or preparing to walk across that graduation stage -- be encouraged and take one bite at a time!
Question: What steps are you taking to accomplish your elephant-size goals?
